Actually the van needs some wiring work as someone put the battery in backwards and it's a 2003 T&C and certain things aren't working on it. All appear to be on the same source for power. It shouldn't take long to fix, just gotta get some decent weather as it's outside and I am not freein my butt off workin on it!
I know about bad gas mileage in the XJ's...got 3 of em
I'm in the McCordsville area so not too far away. It sounds though like you will be going somewhere on Sat to work on it, does he have a sawall and welder, if not and he has 220 I can bring mine or 110 and the wire fed...or both...

I get it on the gas mileage thing... I just think it is outrageous that Im getting 12mpg on a good day, downhill, in neutral. Its killing me!!!

If you're having wiring problems that is really no problem at all, I actually enjoy doing that stuff, and most likely the problem is simple (some converter or relay got prob. blown somewhere). I wouldnt expect to spend more than $30 to fix it... the problem is getting to some of these damn relays.

This is going to sound like a stupid suggestion, however...

On the hissing... Im all out of ideas...

Running rough: have you checked under your distributor cap and made sure everything is ok, checked plugs and wires? Does it run better with higher octane fuel? Have you tried injector cleaner, techron or something of the sort?

There are some, they have been heavily cannibalized though. Pull a part has about 3 but they seem to be in better shape, there is a red country for sure that seems like it just has a blown engine or tranny, everything else is still there.

I've been checking around, calling all the yards in my area. I live near Terre Haute, so far nothing. I am going to try and get up to either pic a part or pull a part soon and look there. At this point I'm also open to suggestions. I don't have to put an inline 6 back in, but I also don't want to have to swap tons of parts to make it run again. So if anyone has suggestions on motors and trans that will work aside from the 4.0 please let me know. I'm just a shade tree mechanic so I am grossly ignorant of how to do engine swaps and what works and what doesn't

99xj4dr and I looked in both pic a part and pull a part for hitches to no avail. We found several early 90's models (some in great shape) at pull a part but none of them in black, so... ur gonna be going the colorful route for a minute there.
