Hey all I'm finishing up my front axle replacement, however I cannot get the tie rod bolt to go all the way into the pitman arm. It seems like things are getting twisted. Anyone have any tips?

I guess it is the drag link. What ever rid connects to the pitman arm haha. I really have to pull the rod to get it to line up with the pitman arm but the bolt will not go all the way in. Only 1 line of thread goes show. Not enough to thread the bolt on

Finally got it using a ratchet strap. Really hitting myself in the head. It was so simple once I thought of this. Wasted a lot of frustration and sweat yesterday trying to brute it in myself

Have you tried turning the steering wheel back towards the center? You are only going to get a few threads to start with as you are supposed to pull the tre up into the pittman arm to tighten it up.

Thanks! I will search it out.

I see a lifted xj driving round Freeport every couple of days. Looks about 4" of lift and have a roof rack. Everything else is basically stock. That sound like any of y'all?

Also does anyone know of anyone selling a welder. A relatively decent welder that doesn't cost a fortune? Can't begin my restorations till I find one. Haha

the paint code is stamped on the driver's side firewall under the hood. should be three letters and a number. when you go buy spray can paint match it up with the three characters under the hood. mine is PE3. i don't know what stone white is but yours should be something like that.

The paint code for Stone White is PW1. Along with Stone White, they had Deep Slate and Bright Platinum. I owned a deep slate Niner and a bright platinum. All 3 colors were only available for the Niner models. I'm sure there might be a company out there that still makes it but seeing how Jeep made less then 15k of them back in 98 it might be next to impossible to find that color.
