im going to go look at a 97 xj the seller said it needs a valve job cuz one of the valve is stuck in cylinder #1. if this is an easy fix like they way i see it i might get it. i already have #630 head with all work done to it at the machine shop. i'll tow it to a repair shop and have them swap the #630 head. my question is i don't how long the seller been driving it with the valve stuck will this cause other internal damages to the motor?

That is kind like asking are tacos spicy....
It depends. Why did the valve 'stick'? What actually broke?? Where did the bits and pieces actually go?
Valves do not 'stick' in the head in a low compression/low rpm application like ours... A rocker arm can snap off, or come off... a push rod can break or bend. A cam lobe can be damaged, a valve spring can break. Its a mechanical connection between all these parts, unless there is something physically impeding the correct operation, the system will continue to operate.
Could there be other unseen damage other than a 'stuck' valve. I will almost guarantee there is other damage. How bad that damage is depends on what really happened. The owner of the Jeep is either ignorant of the operation, or telling you a story to get you to bite on an engine he/she tore up.
