and you apparently don't build jeeps or you read too much on GOOGLE ??? the 92-99 axles are hp indeed but before that there are also hp axles. they have smaller u joints that are used! the 96.5 to 99 have larger joints... the ABS axles have bigger joints in the pre 96 your are correct. but wait the weakness is in the gears? are you sure the weakness is in the gears? the joints? and the shafts? wait isn't that like saying the axles in general are not that great, ya your right im something else..... im outta here little poor pittyful self will loath in desperation that one day I will learn why pre 96 axles DONT suck please o wise ones plese enlighten me on how pre 96 axles are so good please let me know how unknowledagable I am and if I was building a 00 xj why I should install a 86 axle in it. please let me know

the 96 and newer have better u joints the 00-01 have good shafts. the gears are not the weak link at all in a 91-96 its the joints and SHAFTS. ive seen hundreds broken shafts only gears are from water damage or misuse. but its okay im sure with 7000 posts id do a lot of reading on jeepforum so id have to agree with all the mall crawlers

 

if you wanna go back to the 86 they have very weak gears correct. but 87 is when they first started to change that
