Checking in from the Joliet area. I have owned my XJ for 7 years and just recently starting to do some work. I wish I had more disposable income.
Here is my situation: I have a '98. Three weeks ago I replaced my from coils, shocks, and links, and the rear leafs (heavy duty w/ 7" arch) and shocks. These are all stock parts either bought from Quadratec or Autozone.
I also bought a Teraflex 1.5" budget lift and installed the spacers in front and the shackles in the rear. I had a strong vibration from about 27mph - 40mph.
The combination of the HD leafs and Teraflex shackles made the rear sit noticeably higher than the front. As a result of the vibration and the stance, I bought standard shackles from Quadratec and swapped them out. I also bought a t-case lowering kit from Teraflex but I did not install yet.
The vibration is nearly nothing now and the stance is almost level. The rear is still a bit higher but only by about an inch.
Here are my questions: can I buy larger stock shocks for say a p/u that will bolt right on to replace my stock xj shocks? How can I level out things when I install the Teraflex shackles again? If I get bigger spacers for the front do I need to get an adjustable track bar and longer links?
My goal is to still lift my xj some but do it on a budget that I have mostly spent already.
Any help is appreciated.
