My trailer is down at the moment and all I could rent was a dolly. Ive towed plenty of 4 wheel drives with a dolly in the past, that's why they make the Neutral position in a transfer case and transmission for, towing purposes. Something bound up because there are other issues inside the transfer case and the previous owner told me so afterwards the next day, not because I was towing it. If you aren't suppose to use a dolly, then explain to me why travelers in rvs carry 4x4s all the time on there dollies behind them. I'm sure they don't take the drive shafts out to get from a to b. Also on a rear wheel drive car. It works the same way just without a transfer case. You put it in neutral and you're good to tow. That's why they put the nuetral position there. So your wheels are neutrally spinning. They don't put your drive and reverse in a trans and 2h 4h and 4l positions in your tcase, just to pop out. They cog in and aren't supposed to move. I could understand if somebody failed to put it in neutral and tried towing a 4x4.
It's like this though. You're on the highway in 2h and it all the sudden pops into neutral and your gas pedal just won't move the jeep. Well does that mean you're not supposed to drive down the interstate either because something possibly could happen. No. Lol
Big towing companies use flat beds usually for liability reasons. The car is stationary and nothing has to spin or move on there. All they do is hook a winch up and pull it on. If they do for some reason towe you, it's backwards yes because they usually don't have keys to unlock the shifter lock to get it in neutral. Front tires will always spin on a 2wd or optional 4wd vehicle. So they pick up the rear and haul your car off. They don have time to mess with taking driveshafts off or wondering if there are issues so they do what they know will work to get it done faster.

It also would not have mattered if I loaded it backwards or not. I also stated it was a 242 transfer case which is all time 4x4. Taking the driveshaft off is the only thing that could have prevented this. If binding up happens for any reason when in cog, I'd rather it be on a dolly than a trailer that way I catch it before I think I have it fixed and pull out in it and it locks up on me at 70 instead of 35-40 and flips and kills me or my girlfriend. This waynobody was in it and when it locked in, it still dragged down behind me because of my trucks forward momentum instea of locking up with no momentum pulling it.
