okay i broke out the zj and drove it to claremore and back.... first time i have driven it other than uop and down my street...
here's the skinny for all u zj owners to ponder....
if u manualy shift gears they are all there and work great, you put iT in D and hit the skinny peddle it shifts through first, skips second, nails third and od.... when u go to stop it refuses to down shift...... at first i thought detent cable, but it appears to be good and installed right, the electrical plugs on the side of the tranny look like **** and the brown wire is spliced together with a butt connector.
so i plan on swapping tranny out when i do lift/ transfer case conversion to the 242, i also have plans to rob either a entire transmission harness or just get about 3 ft of each plug and wire and graft them in while i do all that. i did have a little growling coming from somewhere intermitingly at 50-60 mph but no pulsating or shimmy... i will probably be deleting the cv axles and toss in a set from a d30 hp on this build also so that should fix that..... what u think? HEEP??? YOUR THE ZJ MASTER... U HAVE A THOUGHT?????

Hey woodie, mine skipped second also and didnt down shift at a stop. Most likely a stuck solenoid, I put of quart of lucas in it and its working fine now after about 100 miles. Also the check valves get clogged up and the fluid wont flow properly. as long as its not slipping its most likely a solenoid.
