thank you, however I have been watching CL but dont see these $150 t-cases.

Is the 242 better than the 231?

Also Woodie thank you for Cody's info I will contact him. I will be ready about the middle of next month. I am getting my ducks in a row atm. I would like to get the thing ready for Rocktoberfest for some light wheeling. But mainly want if for the winter. Our winters as we know can be very unpredictiable.

Not to hijack .. Some say the 242 is stronger some say the 231 is.. If u are mainly DD it i think the 242 Will be fine. If u have a 231 stay with the 231 if u go with a 242 u Will need the rear ds also. The 242 takes a different length drive shaft. See what this one is.. http://tulsa.craigslist.org/pts/3221065836.html

Granted 100-150 for a t case is not an every day find, but as James just linked they do pop up and its best to ha e cash and move fast... good deals usually go quick. Especially if I have any mad money ;p

james u know the limits and decided u didn't care on that one. we had that discussion, u did what we all do at some point and took a chance that could go either way. and it went the way it wanted to.
no worries, we will put this 8.25 in the garage in it tomorrow night and problem solved. u wil be hard pressed to break it...

i know heep is running a 242 and last time i ask him he loved it, but ya the drive lines are definately shorter on the 242 trucks... i have one of each at the moment . nothing wrong with either one of them...
i am going to start looking for a rubicon 4:1 np 241 for mine. its looking like i'm gonna have to shell out about a grand for one tho .....
which is actually about 300 more than the lowrange kit you can buy for an np 231. so i'm not 100% on which way i will go, but i will eventually do one or the other just beacause i want too.

I think you could have made that if you had a different approach angle for the rear but you just went straight up. Next time we are down there I'm gonna do it. And I will make it.

I'm not running it in I'm just saying now thy I have tires and am not afraid of have a flat now. I'm going to do it and I am going to make the jeep make it up there for the simple fact that it looked like only pl with 35 or bigger have went up there and went around. I'm going to take the same route James did.

Really, if you take in the consideration the 231 tires .And the D35.X All the wheel he has done devide by number of years.you Come out with a good number!

231+D35(x the wheeling you have done) ÷ how old the xj is.=______!!!!!

The answer is replace and do it again

With friends!

i've seen it done on 33's w lockers.... its only got the one crux area... once you get rear tires past the root u are home free. now the route james took is a little more of a challenge on gears, axles and u joints....
we will tow u back to camp bro *joking
