Why do you say your gears arnt set up right?
Funny you say Westlake, that is where I work. As for the gears in 4wd high, at higher speeds when "coasting" the front axle whines like you wouldn't believe. same for the rear but not as bad.

That would be a nice break from painting the outside of my house and other projects going on but they are things I need to finish before returning to Saudi for two months. I leave in a couple of weeks and will be back in Sept and will def be free for JY runs and Jeep meets/Wrench days.

Anyone know of a shop in the Dallas area that can re-wind my alternator to get some more power out of it? 1989 Jeep XJ Laredo.

I believe people on here swap out their alt for one from a GC look it up in the how to section. You can probably pick one up from the JY cheaper then you can get yours rewound.

I haven't really read up on it because I dont have a Jeep Alt. For me to upgrade I would need one from a full size GM pickup.

I found a shop here in Garland claiming they can get 200 AMPS out of my stock ALT. I'm going to give it a try. Sure would be nice having that extra amperage if I ever need it. Thanks though!

You guys going out to Bridgeport for the "ride all night" July 26th?!

I will be out of the country. Sucks because I just put extended break lines on the Cherokee yesterday. Whoever had this thing before me left the stock line when they did the lift. Old lines were dry rotted bad and the rear soft line was almost stretched tight just sitting there so if I would have tried to flex it I probably would have snapped it.

Never heard of that place, but then again i only go to that big building to work I will PM you my number so we can meet up bud. I would appreciate the help and love to learn how to properly gear axles, but i need to put the front axle shafts back in, had to remove them as the pinion nut backed out and i fear it might have messed up my gears (parts under warranty).

Hmmmm, that would definitely throw the pattern and backlash way off if that pinion slipped inwards because of the nut backing off
