Tuttle Creek is fun! DON'T USE THE CRAPPER! It's beyond cleanable even by army engineers.. I went there with a buddy and his dad in a lifted F250 crew pulling a Kawi Ter-x. We wheeled in the side by side while his dad rode his suzi 250 (maybe 450 I d/k) dirt bike. We were told by several people to not even tempt the parts of the trail covered with water.. They mention like 8-10 ft deep sludge holes; however thats heresay. Enough proof for me though, I don't want to sink my xj straight to heck. ha

Tuttle Creek is a blast. When I was stationed at Fort Riley, I'd get over to Tuttle at least twice a month, sometimes more often. My TJ is built for 35s, but I'm only running 33s so I have that much more room for suspension uptravel. It's nice to have that much articulation when going through the rocks as there are some lines that require some major articulation/ground clearance!! The cool thing about Tuttle is that there are trails for everyone. I've seen bone stock Jeeps on street tires to full tube framed, 4-wheel steer buggies out there mixing it up. I hate mud, so there's plenty of rocks for me to play on, but if you're into mud, there are some pits that will swallow you whole!!

I'm in Salina now. Here's a pic of my rig. If you're local and want to hit up Tuttle, let me know. I'm always up for some wheeling!!

Default Oh wow

Wow your TJ is gorgeous! I hope my XJ will be that badass soon! I'm trying to sell my 06 Cbr600RR in order to pay for my lift... I'm stockin rockin right now, so I don't think my 28" Dunlop A/Ts can handle what your 35's can lol so raincheck on a legit wheeling trip for me... but my goal is the RC 4.5 X-series lift with the upgraded shocks for $899 plus some money here and there.. It's funny with a Jeep, I can always mentally spend ALL MY MONEY before I even get/make it.. HAHA but yeah man really sharp TJ!

Thanks, man!! I'm digging that XJ of yours too. I've been looking for a late '90s-'01 XJ to add to my driveway. Funny, I'm selling my '02 Yamaha R1, full custom, to do some more mods to my TJ as well. Looks like our priorities are about the same!! You've got a great platform to build from and a good idea of what you want. I'm looking forward to seeing that beast when you get her lifted!!

Default Mulberry Road

In Wichita KS wheelin news: Mulberry road 5 mins east of 21st and Andover road, close to Butler JuCo, has been a popular spot for many a high school wheeler.. This is also where they found the dead pregnant teen in the field(not to detour you). This is a county "minimum maintenance" road and I would not claim tearing up this road, to be a good thing ; however it once was popular for Wichita locals wanting a run during lunch.. It has been shut down for at least a year, but has since re-opened to public traffic after significant repairs were made to allow the torn road to be useable. It's actually a fairly good repair.
When it rains, Mulberry is known for being NASTY. Sticky mud, thick ruts, 4-5 ft sloppy ditches probably full of water, is the concoction of this stretch. I have since visited there with a buddy in his 07 FJ Cruiser and we are both stock.. It was a dry day and I was somewhat disappointed to find the road to be in SUCH good condition, but we made the best of it.. We dropped in the ditches and just creep/crawled through some tall grass and flexed back and forth and found ideal lanes. Nothing worthy of being called wheeling, but we weren't trying to break down in some ditch with no tow rope...
In whole, Mulberry has been fixed and is in super shape so let's not completely destroy it so quickly this year haha. I will return to run the ditch maybe when it rains, but I'm waiting to lift my jeep and get some MT/Rs on it at least... If you are in the Wichita area then check it out, but I sure hope I don't stroll by one random day and see 6 jeeps in the ditches.. The beauty of this road is it's convenience of location to east wichita and how it's a subtle area to run the ditches, but the farmers in the area DO use these roads personally so don't be pissing people off out there!

Default Muddy mile

where exactly is the muddy mile? I've always heard about it, but never found it. we used to have a good place here by Towanda that ran thru a crop field with a low water bridge in the middle. people kept running thru the crops instead of stayin on the road though, so i got closed down. nothin but silt....
