Default Need Advice in Kansas City

Hello!

This forum is awesome. I have enjoyed reading and learning from you all.

Now, I need someone to share their Jeep expertise with me!

I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport and my u joint is busted!

I wish I could do the work myself but that is outside of my skill set .

I'm not sure if I have to replace both the u-joint and the drive shaft as it seems like they are both worn out.

I've read other forum threads about the cost of ujoints (around $25 each) and drive shafts (listed online for around $140 refurbished).

I'm attaching pictures for any informed opinions.

I'm new to this and want to learn as much as I can before I arrange to have this work done.

Is there anyone on the forum located in the Kansas City, MO area that can recommend a reputable mechanic that I can go to?

Is there anyone who can give me an idea of how much this type of work SHOULD cost?

All advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you and I hope you're having a wonderful day!

Go you're local junkyard and and pull a driveshaft and slip yoke. Replace the u-joints and put in your rig.
Less than $100 and you're back on the road.
