You will learn a lot in college, but watch out for bad teachers. I had a substitute auto teacher who thought an over the top intercooler was an air filter.

 

What you might try is adding some shims under your leaf pack while your installing your lift. That should help your driveline vibrations and u-joint wear for a fraction of the cost.

Or here is an option if you have a hard time finding a cheap 231 that will bolt up to your rig.

From what I have read on them... as long as they are installed correctly they are plenty strong.

If your considering a swap Just remember you cant just put any 231 in... i don't know what year or tranny you have... but you need to be careful to find the correct shaft lengths and spline counts. Do your research.

 

I've got shims, and I had a shop fix the vibes. I'm not gonna swap a different tcase in lol to much work just for a sye when I can just drop the tcase and get armor for it

Ok question for everybody. 98 xj with RC 6.5 lift. Got it on and had it aligned, not going down the road with a vibration and at 55mph. Turns into a death wobble. But I can slow down or power out of it. What would cause this? I'm stumped.

 

Any joints or bushings in the front end, check them all. A common issue is the track bar mounting hole on the axle gets wallowed out a little, id check there first

 

It has a fresh track and upper and lower control arms. I'll check them all this weekend. Just boggles me.

 

Not to burst your bubble but that sye is for a 231 lol

 

Tom woods makes a sye for the 242, its basically a hnt though because they use a stock shaft and trim and tap it for you

LikeI said, LOOK a little harder. There are two sye for the 242. Maybe scroll down and look around. I found two at that site. One for the early 242 and one for the late. It's there just have to find it.
