you talk about the elec fan extensively... there is also a belt driven mechanical fan on these 4.0's. thats where the fan clutch mentioned earlier is

also I dont know id still available but a couple years ago when my Cherokee's radiator went bad I was able to buy a copper/brass (like the old cars had) version.. 2 row, it was made by Modine (now "Proliance") and they called it a "heatbuster"
a "oe style" replacement was around $100ish at the time aluminum with plastic tank POS... and a couple places that I priced one they said that part number was the #1 most popular seeling radiator at the time...
I paid double for my radiator but when I went to a "radiator shop" to ask for an all metal radiator "they" wanted over $400 for the exact same radiator I bought... so I didnt think I did bad. I like doing things once, hate redo's thats why I spent the extra money.
Someone had one of these very radiators for sale on CL somewhere around Aurora brand new, for $90 a couple months ago IDK if they ever sold it.
