Geeze I dont get on for a day and I have to read through almost 20 pages!
I know its a bit late but i ran the RK kit
I would swap out the poly joints for rod ends if possible.. When i ran the poly joints it had axle wrap really bad, switched to rod ends and it made a world of difference.
Autozone sells a Brute force u-joint that is a 1310-1330 u-joint, I used it when i swapped in my 8.8. If you need the part number i have it.
So yesterday I almost rolled a 1.1 million dollar loader off a hill, talk about a rush.. It was slick!!!
do you have these parts? looks like hte arms would go this way... Brackets side frame side... (putting bushings on body side, joints at the axle) http://www.rockkrawler.com/pages/cat...p?r_itemID=182

ford 8.8 out of a ranger, I got to researching when I got home and it seems that there were to different sizes (where it mounts to flange) so I have to measure and see which one I have tomorrow, also I found something that said some rangers use 1310 joints isn't that what the xj is

Well, I have the crossover steering on at last. I had a stock and a drop waggy pitman arm available to see which would work best handling-wise. Turns out the stock one is the best bet. It still is a little more squirly that it should be. The best solution is to make the geometry awesome by moving the axle side track bar mount up, making the angle shallower. Also, good shocks and shock bushings and a sway bar would probably do a lot.
The turning radius sure did change. I went out and measured, and my U - turn requires.......drum roll......154" less road to accomplish. No kidding! 12 feet 10 inches tighter on the 180*. So is this what these things are SUPPOSED to turn like?
It is time to get someone with fab skills involved. Any takers ?
PS - I would take a pic, but the camera is dead, and the charger is MIA. maybe later
