As far as I know you can make the long block work between all the years. We put the 99 in my buddies 91. Just used the 91 Intake and throttle body. So i'm sure it would work vise versa.

I have a 4.2L (AMC) with fuel injection you can buy...but it would probably be very difficult to adapt to the XJ as the computer is kaput...unless you bolt a carb back onto it. And then it would still be very difficult

It was in my old '76 full size Cherokee.

Yes when I'm driving in gear then push in the clutch to come to a stop and it dies.

try putting it in neutral sitting somewhere and hit the brake without the clutch. if it dies it's most likely a vacuum problem.

Well it dies even before I brake pretty much right after the clutch gets pushed in.

try revving it up to 2k rpm's holding it for a bit then letting off. see if it dies.

i'm kinda confused about this, the whole clutch killing it thing makes no sense.
