Wholy cow... I had forgotten all about this forum until the notice popped into my email this morning. And note the Sway bar has nothing to do with DW. DW is all about the Track Bar and LCAs. If either is loose you will have it. Ball Joints and Unit bearings could cause it as well but usually are not the culprits. To test them jack the wheel up and wiggle the top of the tire in and out as hard as you can... kind of looks like your humping the tire so have a friend video it and post it here any movement would be ball joints or unit bearing here.

As for the steering and track bar Have someone yank the steering wheel back and forth from say 2 to 8 oclock and get under there and put your hand on all the steering joints as well as the track bar. Also look at them. You can see/feel which joint has slop in it. I had to replace a track bar the other day on my Daily as the bushing allowed for about 1/4" of movement at the frame side and I could see it during this test... wall la, DW gone.

As far as the LCAs not sure how to really test them... maybe with a pry bar and see if the joint moves. I had some adjustable ones on a jeep where the jam nut had come loose on 3 of the 4 arms between the fronts and backs and it caused DW, so if adjustable make sure that nut is fricken waaaay tight.

Hope that helps

Couple Pics from Cruces (Rocitillo Rapids) a couple weeks ago. The fall on the right was very vertical. I made it everyone else winched. I almost flopped and so did one of the LJs... good times. I had the front end sucked down to not flip over backwards and hence the front wheel off the ground.

Quick way to test LCA's is to unbolt from the axle - if they don't budge, and won't move side to side you are good (figured this out when I did my axle swap!)

Bill, that first pic doesn't do it justice, I was thinking my rig could have made it up!

You guys would have had a good time going UP Big Jim!

So I know I have one bushing on its way on the axle side LCA, but how do I check my Johnny Joints for play if they're supposed to move. I'm really thinking its my ball joints or my hub bearings.

That worn bushing will more the likely do it. I think for the johnny joints you gotta do almost the same as regular tie rods if not pull them off and check for any wear loose or very tight binding. Sould have some sort of lubrication or adjustment possibly. Ball joint are easy to spot and hubs make noise then they are shot.

Johnny Joints are rebuildable. Just pull the snap ring and the large washer. Replace the bushing inside, and put it back together. $12 for the kit.

You can grab a ball joint press from Autozone to press them in and out. Bit of PITA, but it works.

Ouch, haven't been on in some time. Crickets... Do any of you guys have any neon injectors ready to sell? I remember a couple of you having them in the past. If not, what is the new stock I could buy? I think the part numbers have changed. Crickets...

Depending on year thw 784 are for 99 and up and 703 or the mustang yellow tops are for the 99 and down and the renix use the volvo 724 I believe. If I remember right I can grab some I have a rebuild kit that can make them just about new as you can get them beside actually buying new ones.

Sometimes I hate this town! Mine's not a DD so when I park it I pull the starter or ASD relay, but every time I pull into the driveway I expect to find it gone!
