Guess the first step would be in getting the rear end up off the ground unloading the springs. Any tips other than having a lift? Jack I have I think might get the tire up off the ground lifting from the axle, but nothing to unload the suspension. I have an 8# maul which should be decent enough to move the bushing out.
put the jack stands on the unibody rails and then lower the axle with the floor jack

Just go out there. Yea its better if you take someone else with you just in case (stuck, roll over, breake something, crazy guy running with a ax) the usually stuff. I go out there all the time to learn the roads, esp when I'm out there in the night.
