x2 have a detroit in mine and no issues. Another thing is if you get the 8.25 that's 97+ the shafts are 29 spline.
If you are going to spend money on an axle do not get an 8.25.... Your best bet for the money would be to go with an 8.8
I have one myself an it is a good axle.
You can get an 8.8 with a limited slipdif and 4.10's from a JY for very cheap. All you have to do is have the perches and shock mounts welded on and bolt it in. same 5 o 4.5 pattern as stock and it works great. The shafts are bigger than a Dana 44 but there is a lot of debate as to the strength of each. Oh the 8.8 has disks as well...
