Default Howdy!! from eastern NM (Melrose)

Us flatlanders, my wife and I, are looking for some trails in the Albuquerque, Sante Fe area. Any suggestions, and or directions?

Trails near Portales, they must be tiny. Of course anything is better than nothing.

We have a 97 XJ mostly stock right now have been thinking for years about doing something to it but after 500,000 plus miles I haven't. An 03 Rubicon is our primary trail rig and we have a 72 CJ5 just for fun.

Close to Albuquerque thers is a trail called Cedro Peak. It starts about a mile south of tijeras on a forrestry road # 462. Google it and you will find it good luck. They might close that area down due to the insanly high fire danger out there.

Thanks a bunch! Unfortunately, fire danger exists pretty much every in NM this year, its been extremely dry. I drew an archery deer tag for Unit 36 which is the Ruidoso area and currently the Lincoln National Forest is closed until they recieve substantial rainfall. Hopefully it will rain before September. I will try and get up there and check out the Cedro peak trail sometime this month if its still open. Thanks again!

What weapon did you draw for 32? Im assuming its a deer tag, and elk for 34. I always put in for 33 for archery deer as my first choice and 32 as my second, this year I added 36 as my third. We saw alot of deer during the first archery hunt for elk in 36 last year. I know some very good areas for late deer in 32.
