Default Four Corners, What Did You Do to Your XJ:

I figured we could use this thread in here, since we seem to always be doing something. This one can be FC exclusive, so our posts don't get lost in the sea of posts in the other thread.

I pulled the alternator out of my XJ on Sunday, as well as the battery. I hooked the battery up to the charger, and it seems to be ok. I went to a local shop to have the alternator rebuilt/hopped up, and the guy at the shop said that it could not be done. We got to talking about it, and come to find out, it was only a 60 amp alternator. He said that the chassis was too small to put more windings in it. It seems that one of the POs put a tiny alternator in it to save a few bucks!! I'm glad that it didn't strand me in the middle of BFE, I go there sometimes!! LOL!! He is rebuilding me another unit he had in stock, it is a 100 amp, and should be at least a bit better suited for the job!! Food for thought, a limited XJ, with all of the power goodies, and a winch, needs more than 60 some odd amps to operate properly!! LOL!!

I need to replace the injectors on my 90 XJ this weekend, but I made a longer J hook for the spare on my ZJ yesterday.

Just got done w/my SYE. Now, I need to re-install my t-case, and fill it up as well as my tranny. Also need to drill a new hole for my adj track bar, and get a new DS. Too much to do and too damn cold outside lol.

Cosi, glad you're getting that new bada$$ alternator!!

Wow yeah I bet it did! I worked in a garage for a few years and never heard of a caliper falling off Good to hear you got that one fixed!
Too much to do and too damn cold outside lol
I hear ya there man! I want to give my heep a good cleaning and work on putting in my rear seat but its just so damn cold outside I cant wait till we get my buddy's shop finished so I can go there and work. Today I changed the drivers side switch panel on my door since the window switch didn't work anymore. Then I checked to make sure a have a NP231 case which I do which means I wont have any trouble with the Rough Country lift kit I am going to buy. Also a few days ago I purchased and installed a new Optima battery since the old one had just about had it especially with the cold weather.
Just got done w/my SYE. Now, I need to re-install my t-case, and fill it up as well as my tranny.
How tough was the SYE to install? I am going to be doing one in the next few months along with my new lift

Yeah I can definitely picture that happening... Just never heard of it happening. Did it mess up the pads?
