I can. What did you have in mind?
this: but on the left side.
No, I will not build a tire carrier that swings toward the drivers side....ever. The risk to you and other vehicles is too great. Imagine what would happen if that carrier swung out into traffic while you were pulled over on the shoulder.
No offense, but as a relatively new driver I'd suggest a carrier to hold the spare in the cargo area. Safe, secure, and does not restrict your vision. This is what I'll be building for my son's heep in the coming weeks.
And to be even more of a weenie...No work performed for you without your parents expressed permssion. Yeah I'm an old fart, but I've also got 2 teenagers at home and would expect the same courtesy if I were in their position.
Fair enough? Good.

Frank, just a question... but can a rear swing out be installed on left side, but to swing to the right? I guess it could.. but would be a super loooooong swing out huh?
Yes, but the amount of weight on the swing-out would be tremendous. Without copious amounts of reinforcement the rear header panel will crack. Ask me how I know.

I fully understand it Frank, rummaging through NAXJA forums i've run across a guy talking about it swinging out towards the left side of the vehicle. That puts alot of potential danger behind me. However as djlarroc pointed out that the hinge be placed on the right side and yet the tire hold placed moreso on the left side than in the middle.
I counted out this fact, being I'm still fresh into this and still all about what looks cool before what is safe and best. (you been there done that)
I guess i never really specified to put the swing hinge on the right, nor did i think about it being on the left. Just wondering if it'd be possible to set my spare in a spot where i could look over my shoulder and clearly see whats behind me for a safe lane change.
Lol, my dad would've bought me a wrangler had he still be alive, my mom just says "i hope you can pay for it"-- i guess thats still parental consent right? haha
