rear main seal has to be the shatty-est repair you can do working without a lift ...F-n b---tch always has a few more drops to fall in you eyes-ears-hair . I dropped my trac bar b/c it's about 1ft over the axle ,so I had a ton of room ,And it would have been a 2 hr job had I not missplaced my punch ,and then I dropped a nut and stood up looking for it ,and after 2hrs I found it stuck in my boot lug ...then putting pan on I dropped a bolt and looked for 45 minutes finally found it sitting hidden in the webbing of the 60...Filled it ---reved it--- let run ...then ran around block ,and no leaks ...Tomorrow some highway driving to be sure .

LOL...I'm sure you'll be better prepared than I was ,as I lost my punch and tried every possible substitute that would not score the crank ...none of them worked...but got dripped on while trying ,and ended up using the srew driver ayway...Oh let your seals sit in oil for a couple hours b4 installing them my upper slid in with my pinky doing this .

I usually have some one turn the crank by hand while im pushing the upper half in. It goes right in. I also use aerobic sealer on the front and back of the pan where the main caps are. I learned this little trick from my buddy at the jeep dealer.

Going in was a breeze ...upper comming out was not ,but mosty b/c I was without the correct tool and was worried I'd slip and score the crank tapping the seal out since the working angle between the control arms/60 pig is very small and leaves only room for movement from elbow leaving po' control over hammer/screwdriver ...I did rtv on the those spots f/r ...and bought a rubber 1-piece gasket the guy at Napa asked if I wanted to save a little money and buy the cork asket...lol...I thought about slapping him.
