Looks like you guys are having fun....
Question though.... Does anyone know common reasons why an NP231 won't shift into and stay in 4L? 2wd and 4H are no issues at all, but my tcase won't go into 4L at all.... This following me taking off my old crossmember and trying to install a tcase skid... I didn't finish the install cause I forgot I had a tcase drop not a SYE... When we put the old crossmember and drop back on we had to use some ratchet straps to pull the drivetrain around to get everything to line back up... Now no 4L... Anyone have similar issues ever and know a fix?

you prob need to adjust your t-case linkage. there is a bolt on the linkage you loosen, manually shift the t-case into 4-low, pull your shifter fully into 4-low, tighten adjuster bolt, and you should be good....very easy to do.

Linkage sounds out of adjustment...you could try shifting the case directly from the side of the case ...but it sounds like linkage is off...I do not have stock linkage I have a z-link by Novak ,which is cheap in cost ,and eliminates that factory linkage mess , But adjusting the linkage boils down to adjusting the factory set up until it shifts correctly...I hear it's a PITA .

Sweet, thanks for the info guys. George, do you have any info / links for the linkage you have? I'll look, but if you have a quick link to post that'd save time. I'll look up info or a walkthrough or something too for the linkage stuff. Glad it's possibly something as easy as adjusting linkage, and not time for a new tcase or something.

Linkage I have is made by Novak Conversion just go their site go to t-cases and select linkages ...It's called a Z-link . As for stock linkage it's located right on drivers side of t-case it' simply a linkage that turns that stud sticking out of the side of the case ,which you can move by hand with a wrench to change mode/range ...When moved the trans/crossmember you moved the linkage since t-case is bolted to trans...no big thing just a typical Jeep thing...lol
