I'm fairly sure they require the plate to be illuminated

A light that replaces the old light or one that mounts to the carrier?

The new light has 2 screws that drill into the hatch. You probably could make a bracket to mount to the tire carrier though

Hey while we are on the subject of plates, what's the out of state plate rules for Colorado? I have a Texas plate on my XJ...anyone know if I can get a ticket in Colorado for not having my front plate up? The jeep is used as a ranch vehicle in Colorado and I'm just too lazy to affix the plate somewhere where it won't get beat up or block airflow into the radiator. Usually I won't get bothered for not having the plate in Texas unless the cop is just in a bad mood and looking for things to write me up for. Just wondering...

I haven't had the front plate on any of my last 4 vehicles, only ever got 1 ticket for $30 and I wasn't even there... Meter maid wrote me the ticket while I was getting lunch... Talk about being an ***.... I ran a plate on my YJ and I'll run one on this cause it doesn't bother me... Does Texas have a front plate law? You'll probably be fine, and if not, it's not a bad fine
