The gear break should have nothing to do with the spiders/lunchbox/mini spool fit. That's just the offset of the flange for the ring gear.

8.8s come in 31 and 28 splines, but as far as I know almost every one swapped into a cherokee will have 31. But it's best to double check.
You should pop your cover and see what you got for sure. But best bet:

BTW: does anyone know the name of the company that makes Australian Aussie lockers? They are cheaper than the american Aussie lockers but I can't remember the name.
Well, the 8.8 doesn't have carrier breaks anyway. If it's a real mini-spool then a lunchbox locker (lock-rite, aussie, etc.) should just drop right in as the original carrier is still there. If it's a real spool, not a mini spool, then the carrier is gone and you need a new one. If it's a "lincoln locker" (welded gears) then depending on how it's done you may need a new carrier.

LOL Aussie lockers are in fact made in Aussie land. You can never buy them though. They are always sold out. I waited 6 months and nothing. I went eaton.

The ones from AussieLocker.com are made in america. The ones that are still made in Oz are now sold under a different name in the US, but I forget the name.
