That article made my brain hurt. So many contradicting statements, and I love that yuppie idiot's logic on engine wear.
"A four-cylinder engine has twice the wear as an eight-cylinder one and should wear out a lot faster"
Oh yeah great logic, that explains why the I6 Cummins in the semi that just drove by will easily hit a million miles but a Lamborghini V12 might not live to hit 150k, or why my friend's I4 in his old MR2 had 350k on it and my other friend's MR2 completely destroyed the engine at 101k.

I had to rant, the fact that people that stupid walk and vote among us is terrifying.
Extending my rant on yuppies, a few weeks ago I got this pamphlet about idling in the mail. It said that starting your vehicle 5-10 min before you leave on a cold morning is bad for it, and just getting in and driving it is better. I'll go with that if the City of Fort Collins Greenie Weenie Agenda buys me a 0 mile crate 4.0/AW4 with all accessories at the end of winter when I spin a bearing accelerating up to 45 with -15 degree frozen molasses for oil. They can also buy me a set of heated leather seats.

I think this boils down to "all cars use energy to produce and drive"

I see you missed that one. I'm not going to get into an argument about this claim of yours. In the end if you said this to a person that owned a Prius they would laugh multiple times. All that matters to them is the product they are driving.
