The wider tires just feel more stable to me. It might just be how far they stick out. I ran 12.5 in wide tires at one time, it felt more top heavy, but it might have just been the wheel offset.
Also, you get way worse mileage with wide tires. LOL

How off set are your wheels with the swampers on. And mpg doesn't matter that's why I have a stock xj for my dd

34x10.50 w/15x8 3.5 bs

They are 3.5in backspacing IIRC with a severe negative offset. The tires stick out of the fenders a few inches.

Good news ! I'm military so they usually move us every 3 years ! So I'll be here for 5 1/2 more wheeling/boarding time

Yeah I just looked em both up. ER has a higher minimum rating but they have the same high end. I haven't been to ER but I did Chinaman to the top of whale tail then we all turned around. Chinaman was fun, pretty sketchy in a few spots in my rig but that was the 2nd trail I'd ever taken my XJ on, 1st trail was Holy Cross the day before. Lol, fun weekend I remember.

Chinaman is a way better trail. You can Make Chinaman as hard as you want. Bypasses for most crazy obstacles.
