It'll be the same as the XJ, but I wouldn't suggest it. I had a YJ, the XJ is way better

Lol my thoughts exactly. You'll get it, and see. You'll wanna stretch it and do all the same stuff you wanted to do to the XJ

4 bangers get pretty much the same mpg. That little 4-banger has to work harder than a 4.0L thus resulting in shatty mpg either way. I have owned a few 4-banger tjs, a yj, and an xj. If you want MPGs, get a honda or subaru. Driving your toy every day isnt cheap to do.

I get 10 MPGs in my xj, and spend $130 a week on gas. I know I drive a box on big tires(yj is no different) with a ton of metal welded to it....I guess thats why I actually pay it.

Sounds to me like you need to look for a better job! They are out there for everyone....

I'm 16, i work at a golf course...i am lucky i even got that job. I get payed minimum and get about 20 hours every 2 weeks. I have to pay for my own insurance, phone, and gas...so that leaves barely anything for my Jeep. I am gonna get the hell outta here in 2 years anyway...college -> OCS -> Marines.

i also have a good friend that helps me with my jeep, we found that the YJ was a time bomb waiting to go off. So i am still gonna look for a trade, but i need to do something about my MPG.

Ive got a buddy that will install the gears. $150 an axle. So you just need the gears. You can find used gears, and get them installed for under $500 I bet
