You're putting 42's on a dana-44 ?....Man I would not run 38's on a d-44 ...you're as bad as my friend Danny aka Chinakee who is running 39.5 Iroks on a front d-30 arb locked with 4.88's on his XJ ...I would be running 44's ,but don't consider my axles built enough for them yet, with my driving style . I need 300m for 14 bolt and Alloy usa /CTM's for the front ...right now I got ****tttty Yukon shafts ,but atleast they are 35 spline 1.50 inch to the hub .

i plan on running 37's in the future on mine, and that is pushing the limits of a d44.
first pic is the 42's and champion beadlocks, second pic is on 40's and steelies. broke axles with both sets of tires everytime i went out.

i have to agree with 1tonxj here. i ran 42's on my last yj i owned with a d44 up front. i broke an axle pulling on the trailer for the first time. i broke an axle flexing on a 1 ft rock. i broke an axle while changing the axle....jk, but seriously. i dont care how much you beef a d44, its not gonna hold 42's.

Might work for him, afterall my friend the Chinakee has not broke his d-30 much , But Chinakee's driving style looks like he's taking the kids to soccer compared to my when in doubt throttle out approach ...my 60 has not broke yet even after forgetting it was in 4wd with hubs locked ...on pavement...and attempting to tight turn , Which did blow a drive shaft ,but the 60 lived ...the 14 bolt rear survives me putting the shyt box in lo range with hubs un locked on pavement ,and lighting up the boggers in lo-range...lol. They say 60's are for lead footed hillbillies, well I'm from upstate N.Y. Lol .
And that's a good looking YJ ...only thing i see wrong with it are those long thins sticks of metal holding the axle to the frame instead of long circular winds of metal in vertical fashion running from the axle to frame .

My xjs go places that yj couldn't think of. It looked cool, but that's it.
I also have somewhat of a hammer down driving style, so I can only go by the results I have had. D44+anything above 37=breaky breaky! I broke a bunch of pass shafts on my last xj with a hp d44 and 37" mtrs.

Haha, took me a second to get that. I didn't build it, just traded one of my old xjs for it. Found out after wheeling it once that it was all hacked together. So I'm back in the xj crew.

I know how it is , As I would not be able to stand having a drive train that required me to be "technician" on every obstacle in fear of axle failure , And who wants to be replacing shafts/u-joints 2x on every trail ...that taint no fun .

Work ...sounds dirty...I don't start work until about 2-3pm today ,and then don't get done until about 0500 tomorrow , and i've only had 4 hours sleep , which will bring the suck on my way back into Colorado on the very boring sleep inducing trip on I-76 ...that 180 mile stretch of road will require 3 Rockstars ...lol
