But what's it doing? Cranking no fire?
I carried a 20" socket extension and a hammer with me in the Jeep for a couple months. So I could hit it from the top (The starter)without crawling underneath.
When it started doing it 2 or 3 times a week, I figured it was time to replace the starter, before it left me stranded alltogether.
If you need one, I can get you a good deal on one.

If yes, then the wire that runs from the relay down to the starter solenoid runs through a connector first (it is about halfway between the relay/fuse box, and the oil filter area).Maybe it came unplugged at that connector somehow? If you get power all the way down to the solenoid when you hit the keyswitch, then your starter crapped out.
If you get no click, or power to the relay, then your ignition switch, or NSS are giving you trouble.

So what is a fairly inexpensive way to set up some recovery points? Thinking about doing that after I get my radiator in and after I pick up some JKS quick discos.
