Detroit d-60 bites the dust...the Detroit in my d-60 is probably about 5-6 years old , And who knows how hard of a life it lived with past owner who loved wheel stands , And today just messing around at little Moab at Rainbow falls I bumped a ledge and heard a pop clunk , which just sounded like my d-shackle or my spring bumping up/down...then we realized it was not climbing easily and the passenger wheel not turning , and the fluid comming out the pass diff tube...END OF TRIP...LOL...shafts did not seem loose and no grinding noise like a busted shaft ...I did not bother to pull the cover then or yet , But I'm assuuming the Detroit is toast , But Today was 1Tons last trip until next season ...And the Detroits will be gone next season to be replaced with stylish FRESH ARB lockers ...I'm not even going to guess at the life left in the 14's Detroit I'm just going to ARB both since I drive to hard to hope it will last .

Me and Luke changed the oil pan seal with that anaerobic stuff. Needless to say, I believe it works but my pan is still leaking and this time from two spots. In a nut shell, it comes down the side of the pan where the starter is. Even the started is covered. Is there something else in that area that is prone to oil leaks?

Stupid question but it's not the filter right? When my filter was leaking it covered my starter and the xj is notorious for that leak

I'm gonna check it again and recheck everything else. Dustin also informed me that I didn't wait long enough for the anaerobic stuff so this weekend I'm redoing the pan and changing my valve cover gasket. I'll check the oil adapter though

What you need to do is create some sort of oil catch can that will recycle it back into your engine, that way it can leak all over the place!

Well pulled my 60 apart today , And found my Detroit looking good...But found my passenger shaft looking like 3 pieces ...Driver side shaft is deformed at the inner shaft splines , but both hubs and stub shafts are still good ...But ***** that stock crap and Yukon stubs it's time to place the Alloy/CTM order tomorrow ...lol...I'll need to pull the carrier as well since the twisted shaft ate my inner seals up ,which I just replaced I also found missing bolts on my hubs ...not happy with that since it was installed at a shop ....Also probably a good idear to pull the 14 bolts shafts and see if they are still sporting straight splines before that catch's me on the trail .
