gotcha... that makes sense.
i like my current xj so much better than my zj, or the 2 door after i went bigger. the zj was a beast on the trail. it was nice having all that flex and power, but it was too big for my taste. too heavy. too loud. i'm more of an expedition guy than a rock crawler anyway.
but yeah, i can see your point. if you can sell your xj for around 6ish, and then buy a pretty clean stocker for about $2k, throw $1k at it or less, you will have a nice driving rig, good on gas, reliable and trailable. plus $3k left over.

Literally my exact plan haha. I was thinking 6 or 6.5 could be attainable to the right person. Could pick up an MJ or XJ and have it running and solid for like half that and have $$ for leathers, tires, brakes and lap days
lol

good plan! mjs are sweet, but i think you will have better luck finding a clean xj, due to age and etc. i duno if you have a preference, but i still wish i had gotten a manual. granted, i did look at about 6 xjs before i bought mine. a cpl manuals, but they were just too rough. mine was by far the cleanest one. only needed trans solenoids, which i did myself. i cant do body work, so i found the cleanest body and interior i could. the mechanical is much easier to fix than body.
