Yeah, being that jeep is 24 years old and the owner before me wasn't mechanically inclined nor cared to really do maintenance besides oil changes, none of the grounds were clean. So I cleaned them well, got all my major coolant leaks fixed and she started right up. What's your opinion on the tires? I plan on lifting it a little, trimming the fenders a tad but right now 31/10.50's fit and don't rub.

I'm surprised they don't rub. My wife's 88 has 31s but with a 3" lift.

I'm going to trim the fenders up a little today. I don't have much travel which will have to change as the Cherokee progresses, but for the little stuff right now they'll do. Gotta do my research on lifts to see what I need. I'll definitely frequent the az board and see if I can make it out to a get together.

whatever you do, save up and spend on what will suit your needs. it's always better to do it right the first time instead of buying multiple lifts throughout the jeep ownership.

I definitely agree, LeRoy. I'm trying to figure out what would be best. I'm kind if eying the RC 4.5. But I'm still unsure. I figure after I get tires locked down I can really worry about the next step.

I have the rc 4.5 lift. It's okay for the money. Flexes pretty well. But the rides rough and for me the jeep gets a little squarely at high way speeds. But it's a good first lift

Yeah, this Cherokee is my off road toy so a rough ride isn't all that bad. I'm definitely open to suggestions. I'm looking for more performance on trails than ride on the road, same with tires.

Go with long arm then. Rc is a good starter lift but if I had to do it again I would if gone with some other lift not rough country. But that's just md

I'm definitely not set on a big lift. I'd be okay with a 2 or a 3. But if I can find a kit with a decent lift and long arms I'd definitely fire on it. It just seems like after about 3 inches of lift you've got to start spending a stupid amount of money on other stuff to make the jeep work hah

I run the RC 4.5 super flex on my 99 and i love it eventually (once i stop having kids) i will go long arm but for now the 4.5 runs great i use it as a daily driver and do some crawling around on the weekends some it works just fine. I also spent the extra cash and got kings W/ res for the front so that makes it ride a little better.

I've heard good things about that lift. I'm less interested in straight "rock crawling" and more mud and trails and such. I'd more enjoy something that had a better performance on the trail than ride on road seeing as how it will hardly ever be driven around town and will rack up off road miles much faster than on road. Am I correct in saying, at 4.5 inches I'll need to consider LCA's, a SYE, and to lower the t case? If so, I'm not as compelled to lift that high hah.

Doesn't the kit come with LCA? I just have the T-case drop and have no problems

It very well may, I haven't had a chance to really look through all of the options. I'm relatively new to the jeep community and am kind if at a loss for my best option. Bit that's the fun of it, is figuring those out hah.
