1999 XJ with 210000 miles on it. Thought I saw a trace of oil in the radiator so pulled the head yesterday. Every thing looks good just old. I got new water pump, hoses ,thermostat, clutch fan for grand cherokee, and felpro gasket set. I would like to take the head to a machine shop to have magna fluxed and checked the deck for straightness. If all is good want new valves put in and get this back on the road. Looking for a machine shop I'm in north Phoenix. Any help would be great.

 

long way for you to drive... however, I've got a 99' XJ and my head went to CBA machine shop in Chandler. Those guys are wrapped tight and know what they are doing. Brought it home and installed on a engine with 271,000 miles on it with no issues and running better than ever. Building a stroker and the head will go to CBA for sure.

 

just re-read your post. Have you put any thought into changing out your timing chain while your there. Also, assume you will install a new oil pan gasket... why not change out rear main seal also?

 

Doing the rear main but forgot about the timing chain will go out and get one. Dropped head off yesterday but they are only working 3 days this week so will probably be next week until I know if its good.
