sounds easy but the 1990 wiring harness i need is 1990 ONLY & specific to 4.0 Auito with AC. not so easy now wise guy. do u know what the differences are between 1: auto & manuel? 2: 87,88,89 models? 3: how to modify any of the above to make my 1990 run? or what other components can be changed/modified to achieve same result? or r u just what your answer was? a pay & put it in guy?

I would get a harness from the same year and same equipped xj.

There are plenty of 1990 auto ac jeeps in the jys near me.

Your question was quite vague....hence the wise guy comments.

I just replaced the entire engine harness (and engine while I was at it) on my '93 XJ. My first mistake was grabbing a harness from a '92 thinking it would work...wrong! It was missing the speed sensor connector and was fitted for an external voltage regulator. I did luck out and found a harness from a '93, but still needed a couple splices to make it work with my vehicle. Do you have the old harness? If so, take some pics of the connectors and then hit a u-pull junkyard. Also, check out the date label on the computer. Some jeeps got early release comp/harnesses, so yours may be compatible with a 89 or 91...just match up the dates. And if yours is an Auto, your donor jeep must be Auto...different connectors/pigtails for manual. Good Luck!

I needed to visit Metal Movers (4920 Washington, 80216, 720.583.1607) today and thought I'd check for harnessess for you. They have two '90 XJs, both auto, both with decent harnessess. Both have '91 computers, but if you retained your original computer, just leave it in the jeep and use the harness. Here are some pics...good luck.
btw...they cost $70, u-pull it.

Your year, 1990, is code L, the eight digit from the RIGHT

OK. thanks for the metal movers tip. i have contacted them. i did find what appears to be an identical harness from Westside JY in Ft. Morgan. i will install it today & hope 4 the best. the guy who tried to repair it before i bought it tore up some of the other electronics & harnesses in searching for the original problem so i may not be in the clear quite yet. also he has two computers in the back seat & the AT computer from under the dash on the dash (all disconected, off course) thanks 4 the direction.

90 cherokee wire harness
[QUOTE=willswheels;1342139]OK. thanks for the metal movers tip. i have contacted them. i did find a harness in an 89 laredo auto AC & it IS QUITE DIFFERENT from mine so i'm on a 90 only seach now. seems to be a lot of bad info out there. after touring every pay&pull JY in Denver &stopping at 6they pull em JYs i have no match. it seems the harness i need MUST COME from a 1990 cherokee originally sold in california with appropiate emission compliance & made between Feb. & Sept. 1990. it appears i'm SOL. Any suggestions?
