anyone have suggestions on what metal to use for a roll cage

1.75 x 0.120 DOM preferably IMO. But, if you go with HREW to save some money, just make sure you mind where the seam goes (to the INSIDE of any radius) and you'll be fine.

When you are working with HREW tube, you have a seam where the sheet was rolled and welded together to form the round tube. This seam needs to be oriented to the INSIDE of any radius, so that it doesn't "stretch".

Oh ok I understand. So which way should It face on a set of long arms and then what about if used in a cage?

any one know how to build a simple cage.... just enough to keep my jeep from becoming a pretzel!

Doesn't really matter on a set of arms, but you'll probably have to grind down the inner seam profile to be able to get the threaded bung(s) to slide inside. This is, of course, if you plan to make them adjustable like the vast majority of those available in the aftermarket.

Sure, it's not rocket surgery, but you need a bender and a welding machine. Got either/both?

it looks really good! i have a Mig welder and im not sure if i brought my pipe binder with me from iowa or not but i will have to look i would be up for helping you out if you want. just let me know man

help would be amaizing... but unfortunatly buying the metal for it has to be put off a bit longer... i just want a simple yet functional cage that will help keep my jeep from twistin up

okay just let me know. I would like to come check out your jeep sometime and see what it looks like when you cut the back off. i am in twin falls also. let me know and we can talk some jeep haha.
