Souther California
TDS is Tierra Del Sol out at truckhaven trails... Its this March 4-6, 2011. Happens every year. check out there website http://www.tds4x4.com/
Question for all people who live in hot places like SoCal. I have a 95 XJ that runs great as long as its 60F outside - preferably colder...
The desert kills it with the heat. I've replaced the thermostat which helped a bit, but still need to cool it down some more, cause I over heat (esp on canyon trails with limited airflow and slow driving)
Anybody know of alternate radiators I can put in. I'm looking for used first (money is tight) so, I'm thinking about junkyard diving a chevy/ford/chrysler/toyota/etc radiator that will fit in the same space and provide me with better cooling. Thanks all for the help.

Have you checked the fan clutch? I dont know of any radiators that will fit. The problem with jy radiators is they put a chemical in the cash for clunkers cars. Also is the electric fan coming on? If all that checks out it's probably the radiator is plugged up. A new radiator at autozone is about 135 dollars the last time I bought one. You might be playing with fire getting a jy radiator because you don't know what your getting.
Hope that helps.
See you at TDS counting down the days.

my fan clutch is bad and it will overheat on the highway but does fine on the trail, x2 on the electric fan you might want to check it out.
save up some money and check out radiatorbarn.com thats where my next radiator is coming from.

follow the electric fan wires to the relay, and youll be able to jump the fan by hooking a wire into 2 of the plugs on the relay after you unplug the top of it. two of the plugs will make it spark and the other two will make the fan run all the time. jump the relay and itll tell you if the fan itself is working. the two plugs you are looking for are directly across from each other when looking at the relay

I'll try that. Thanks.

Recently moved to Oceanside (not by choice) with a 2000 Cherokee Sport (also not by choice).
Due to the lack of upkeep from it's previous owners, I now have a Cylinder 6 misfire that needs tending to. And a very minimal budget to do it with.
I've never done repairs on a Jeep before... or many repairs with my own two hands, for that matter. Any advice would be highly appreciated, since having a professional repairman is not financially possible... and something tells me there will be many repairs to be made in the near future.
Thanks.
