I have seen plenty of pics with full size blazers, so the yukon is probably ok. EXT cab is probably ok as well simply because on 39's he has a good enough tire/wheel base to not be high centered all the time, though I would bring at least 1 extra rear DS just in case

Reno4x4.com is a local forum for that area. I would ask them if anyone is going when you want to go. Look up "wheeling in reno" on here for a few poeple that are local to that area/

Went thru first week of September 2011, previous winter was brutal on the area. Lots of new rocks, downed trees and deep water crossings. I know H1 hummers have gone through but it was brutal on equipment and the trail. If you take a Yukon sized rig on any size tire/axles expect lots of traffic, body damage, be prepared to winch, take spare parts (DS/Ujoints fuel pump, etc) be prepared for EXTREME conditions and definately go with a minimum of two rigs. And it is highly recommended to have a reliable spotter riding shotgun and have radios (2m ham preferred).

Common direction of travel is east (start at Wentworth end at Lake Tahoe). We went in with 7 rigs (The Rubicon Scramble) and made it from Wentworth Springs to Rubicon Springs without incident(ok one fuel pump made for a long afternoon), but for the first time in 13 years we had to winch up Cadillac Hill 5 times, it wasn't just us, everyone did, it was wet.

The two official campgrounds are private and generally require reservations, there is free camping on the granite slabs at the springs and remember....the trail is a 25 foot easement between two wilderness areas, you cannot leave the trail with your rig. There is a county Sheriff (Merlin) and a caretaker at the springs stationed there all season.

Good Luck.....

Edit: One more thing, google "Friends of the Rubicon" there are several sites that can provide info. Be aware of the schedules for the Jamborees and Scrambles, the traffic during those events can be a joy killer if you aren't with them.
