Thanks for the recommendations. I'll give them a call after Super Bowl weekend to get me a quote. If the tranny costs more than how much I paid for the explorer then I may shop around for another vehicle. . Hopefully it's not too bad

Hey who here has replaced a motor in their xj. With taxes I'm getting a motor and looking around at long blocks. I'm not informed on local shops as to see if mine can just be rebuilt so I'm asking for help please. I need guidance lol

 

Hit up 4wheel parts... I heard about a guy getting a damn good deal from them

 

I looked they sell the atk for about 1700. The reviews on atk seems pretty good but wanted to see if I could get a lil cheaper

 

What's wrong with your motor?

Personally I'd source a used motor and build a budget stroker..

 

It's pushing 270 k got a lifter ticking and runs bad. Just not sure if I want to fix or replace. I don't know any shops to take it to. I don't know how to do it myself eaither.

 

Im about to give up on this damn thing. Replave the cks. No change. Cranks but no start. Relays on the fuel pump seem to be working but I cant hear the pump energize. I used starting fluid and still nothing. Not sure where else to go. It originally started and ran but ran rough. Then after I shut down. Wont restart. I dont know anymore. Coil pack? Ecm? Fubar? I dont know. I bet it will be something stupid but I dont know anymore.

 

Does the engine light come on? It sounds like the same problem I had with my 91. A maxi fuse blew that controlled the ECM. I did much the same you are doing to find out it was a 2 dollar ****ing fuse! Check those out, find out which one controls the ECM and replace it with the electric fan fuse and see if it starts.
