you all have had you Xjs here in the summer. what should i do I'm going to go through and replace everything so should I stay stock. or ditch the clutch fan for another efan, or buy a 3 row and keep stock fans. I have to replace the fan clutch anyway so for that much I can pull another aux fan at the JY and wire it up. Do you think the extra money is worth it for a 3 row?Originally Posted by liftedjeepxj
125 new. For radiator.

I got a 3 row in my old Cherokee. Never had a chance to try it in summer though. It was expensive, but I really liked the quality. I also put in a 180 degree thermostat. Mine currently has a crappy single row with plastic everything. The filler neck bends when you try to take off the RAF cap

I have an all metal radiator from 1800radiator and 195 t stat. Stock clutch fan and efan with a new water pump. So far it has handled the temps this year in traffic. My old XJ was bone stock on the cooling system and never overheated here, Moab or northern Utah for the 4 years I had it.
Radiator company is local too off Arville and Trop.

after looking closer at the radiator as I was trying to patch the hole with JB weld it is an all metal rad looks like its probably a 3 core which would explain why the fan clutch hit the rad putting the whole in it. the hole has been there for years tho. my friend I bought it from put a piece of gum over it and it lasted for a year like that so hopefully the jb weld will do good. Im just going to flush out the system, toss in a new water pump and tstat and see how that helps. I never had a problem with over heating but it would rise up above 210 idling and would drop right back down if i held it at 1K rpms and above probably a mix of the fan clutch and lack of fan shroud. I guess I'm going to start looking for a E fan that will fit in there because if the clutch hit the rad once it will do it again
