Here's me on my jeep and our pack!
The tj was behind the stock whitey.
Great trip! I learned how much a locker can help and how to bend a tie rod! Got stuck between a rock and a hard place in a puddle and kept moving around while against the rock. Luckily I've got a half parts jeep in my driveway so that shouldn't be bad. Check out my build thread "operation cherry (pit swap)" it needs to be updated as I worked on it today, but its basically the black one in the photo body swapped onto a 96 red guy. Should make things a little more comfortable, and more aesthetically pleasing.

I myself hit up hollister with my lady friend this past sunday.
We lucked out I got all set to go and I decided last minute to check to make sure it was open.. Well it said it was closed so I decided to call and make sure. She said they were about to open it in ten min. So I am all **** ya IM GONE!

air down only went to 16 psi I have 10" wide wheels and also no spare so I didnt wanna pop a bead

So my first time there even though it's like an hour away. after cruising some back trails I was a hungry boy so found a shady spot and grubbed

Always gotta get stuck once!

Nice! Gotta be careful about hollister mud, its got a lot of clay in it so it gets super thick and will just swallow you up. That's actually the same hole I got stuck in, just a different part. It was much wetter when I went through. I'm about halfway through my swap! There's going to be some wheeling near the end of the month going on...

It's funny how a place can be 99.9999999% dry and somebody is still drawn to the mud like a moth to a flame. Good times.

Anybody know how Frank Raines compares to Hollister? It's about 30 minutes further for me so I want to make sure it's worth it. My partner in crime is getting tired of Hollister.

Frank Raines is tons of fun too. But for me personally I dislike ohv parks. I like the back roads and jeep trails and camping Cali has to offer. It really is some of the best in the country. I'm planning a trip the 10-12th of May. Most likely slick rock or something of that level. Lets get an xj crew going anybody interested?

Thanks for the reply, and I agree with you. OHV parks are mostly good for day-trips, but real fun is up in the mountains.

Should we talk about places close to the bay for urban 4-wheeling? I don't want to end up in prison or destroy anybody's property but there must be some areas where we could go for 15 minutes without causing too much trouble. We've done some loading docks and industrial areas but in Fremont isn't a great idea so I'd like to stay clear. I'm too old to go to jail.

I just put on a RE 4.5 short arm w/ single tube rubicon shocks full kit. Rides stiff as hell on road, articulates like a sexy contortionist over ruts. Did you ever have your lift as a short arm? What's the diff. in live off-road? I've gained trax. galore w/ the short lift. Is the long arm really worth $1000 more, or is it sales hype. When we pay a lot for something, we might be tempted to...well, over hype it so as not to look the fool.
What do you think?
