Yeah I thought of that too, when I saw the gate closed. However, I was aware that whidbey island 4x4 was gonna be doing a run and actually followed them up and around the gate on a trail maintenance run of picking up trash. They were unaware of the gates closure as well, however the DNR knew of there presence as well of the large group of other rigs at the main parking lot and said nothing of it being closed. I also checked the website to see it all open for that day.

A couple of weeks ago when Zack, Alex and I went up to Walker both the gate across the road that goes up to Upper Mainline Trail and the gate (in these pics) that is across the road that goes up to Lower Mainline Trail, were both unlocked and wide open. I am going to Contact Tristan (our Walker Valley DNR Rep.) and find out if something has transpired that maybe caused the DNR folks to close and lock the gates temporarely. Although that bypass that goes around the right hand side of that gate in the pics (road to Lower Mainline Trail), has been there, wide open and unblocked for years. That way only wheelers could get to the upper roads and trails. They closed and locked that gate to keep people from going up and illegally cutting down trees for firewood and from going up the roads and dumping garbage. The road that goes up to Upper Mainline Trail pretty much doesn't go anywhere other than to the trail head so that gate was always left unlocked until the trail was closed due to the washout. I believe, as per our DNR Rep., the last of the work was done last Saturday on the new Upper Mainline Trail bypass, so that gate and that trail should now be open. Not sure what's up with the Gate on Lower Mainline Trail road. Unless maybe they locked the gate back up because of that trail that was built illegally that paralleled the Easy Valley Connector Trail. a bunch of free lancers decided to build a trail through the clearing that paralleled the Easy Valley Connector. What these A-holes didn't realize is that they destroyed an estimated $100,000.00 worth of evergreen tree seedlings which were planted there after the area was logged.

Well, I know Zack (zte87) and Alex (assetts91) were joking about what an A-hole I am. 4Loco, busted-knuckles and Sir Hucksallot I don't know you guys and you obviously don't know me. You guys may have just been chiming in on the joke....and I hope you were. You all may also be serious about thinking me an A-hole because I had to dress down your good Buddy Rossi. There are a few things you guys need to take note of. I have been wheeling at Walker Valley for 20 years. I love Walker and I will do whatever it takes to keep it open. Also, you guys have gone on 2 4wheeling trips with this guy that I know of. Both wheeling trips which happened at 2 different ORV areas, this guy said or did things to really **** off people of the loacel area. Both times, if you read the threads about these 4wheeling trips on this forum, my name came up as the voice of reason. That is because I have 4wheeled with guys from the Cherokeeforum all over the state of Washington and I have a few friends. You guys need to know this, 20 years from now Walker Valley will still be open to all who want to 4wheel there as it is Public Land. It will still be open at least partially and if I'm still alive because I will still be doing what it takes to keep it open for you to all come 4wheel there anytime you want to. So, now I challenge you all to think about what I've said, think about what you saw happen on your last 2 wheeling trips and read through the threads about the Evans Creek Run and this Run....and then decide again who the really is your Buddy and who really is the A-hole.
It was an awesome day. Thanks again Lucas (busted-knuckles) for organizing the trip. Also, a picture of Rossi's driveline:Attachment 154713

Just to clarify I didn't call ANYONE an a hole. I sarcastically made fun of Rossi for thinking that way was easier. And I just pointed out to you that it was not his run.
While I lead the group thro walker I never had anyone do something they should not have. I mean we only got to hit 3 trails anyways. There were so many people that it took everyone 1.5 hrs just to do timber tammer.
So just don't think Everyone that wheels walker that you DON'T know is doing something they shouldn't. Your not the only one who has a brain and wants to keep walker open. No offense intended. Just pointing out. I've been wheeling with you before buck. And your a cool guy. So is Alex, I still owe him a tie rod.

busted-knuckles, thanks for setting me straight. I really think you are a stand up guy. I'm no all knowing savior of Walker Valley. Please know I don't go around blasting guys without good reason. When I do it, I feel it is deserved. As I said before I ment no disreespect to you or any of the other guys who came to your Walker Run. As I was checking out the pics there were actually a lot of new faces and a lot of nice looking rigs. I really hope to wheel with you all and make some new friends sometime in the near future.
