i lived in Seattle my whole life, and in the winter fall and early spring its rain or snow for around 60 percent of the time. Its cloudy for most of the time on the west side too. Southof seattle gets just as rainy as seattle does but with more snow. Now i live in Pullman, eastern washington damn near idaho and its perfect. Sunny for most of the year, then it gets cold. Good wheeling spots about an hour away, and the hot chick to guy ratio is 65 to 35. Best way to live

I live in the Seattle area and I can answer your questions first hand. Seattle and King County are very expensive places to live. A dumpy house can cost you $250,000. So a lot of people try to live in Pierce County to the south around Tacoma or north of Seattle near Everett. Everett has a large Naval Base and Tacoma has a large Air Force and Army Base. The VA hospital in Seattle is excellent and I go there for all my medical needs. In Tacoma there is also a VA hospital at American Lakes. It also has a 9 hole golf course. If you like the mountains and need to be near the VA, I would recommend a college in Tacoma and live near Mt. Rainier in Puyallup. Lots of places to explore in your jeep.

Sounds like an interesting spot. I'll have to Google Maps the locale and see what the terrain gives me.

If you're going to college, on the west side you'll probably end up in Tacoma / Seattle. East, you'll probably be near Pullman. I haven't explored much of eastern washington, but love the western side. I actually like the rain and colder weather :P But it's what keeps us green right? Its beautiful over here, snow runs in the winter are badass. I live in Chehalis, which from what I've noticed so far, is about an hour and a half from every sick wheeling spot on the west side (Aside from Walker). From what I hear there's just lots to do on either side, but I'll stick with the rain

I moved to the Spokane area 4 yrs ago and don't regret it one bit. I grew up in cold A$$ MN and don't miss the sub zero temps at all. I do enjoy winter and they are pretty easy here. Some years we get tons of snow other non at all. I live 25 miles outside of town in Stevens County where we can wheel, shoot, boat and whatever else kind of outdoors stuff you like. Mountains are a close by and it's a short trip to town and if you want an hour drive to the CDA area of Idaho. Canada's also only an hour and a half away as well. Summers here are hot and dry. No humidity like Florida or MN. We get some summer storms but they are far and few between. Also lots of school choices here in the NE corner. Well worth your time checking out the area.

If I were you I'd aim for Pullman, WSU is a good college and housing isn't too expensive, I live in Moscow, just on the other side of Pullman in Idaho. I actually live on Moscow Mountain and it's a great place. You can hunt, fish, wheel, anything really. And that dream cabin of yours is really obtainable here. Thank you for your service, hope to see ya soon soldier
