Hmm dang. Well I'm planning on going up to 4.5 an calling it good for now. So maybe a ZJ shaft?

yup it will work i got 6.5" almost around 7" of lift and i ran a hack and tap on a front ds

Engine: 4.0 liter RENIX I-6, DIY Cold Air Intake, 2.5 FM Exhaust, 3 Core Radiator

Hack N Tap is a cheaper alternative, from RE, to a proper SYE kit. It has you "hack" a couple of inches off of your OEM TC output shaft and then drill and "tap" a hole in the end of it to bolt on your new rear output yoke.

For $20 more check out Performance Off Center's website. You get an Advance Adaptors SYE kit with replacement HD output shaft. Anybody who has been a Gearhead for any amount of time knows that AA makes quality stuff.

Gotta watch the date on the post bud..almost 4 years old lol. If your looking for somthing the IIRC the make 5/8ths u bolts specifically for this. I've got some in my shop. I wanna say moog does them. Pretty inexpensive too

diggin up an old thread there, but does the front drive shaft out of the xj work at 3", 4.5" ??

theses guys from a little while ago (2011) are talking about 6"+ ??

this the setup up I am running on my xj and I have been really happy with it. I order the kit with the yoke,front refurbished drive line, and the drill and tap and it cost me right around 215 for everything. It got rid of all my vibes and let me get rid of my tc drop and has held up fine with all the abuse I have delt its way!
but back on topic you will be fine with that drive shaft!

my question for you is how hard is it to cut and tap????? what happens if you snag it and cut a bit of an angle or don't tap dead center??? If I take it to someone to drill and tap, how much am I looking at??? This is the part that sucks if you are not good at fabing!!!

I keep hearing about using the front ds in the rear but as a machinist I wouldn't trust that external/internal splining combined with the possible torque. Twisted/snapped shafts mean more is wrong. Hack and tap is a bad idea.
