I have no sort of tow hooks or anything on my rig and I cant afford the brackets. Anyone got any ideas for getting a tow hook on mine, or something laying around?

My wife has a tow hitch on her vue that Im gonna try to sneak off of it, but Im not even sure if it will fit mine or not. So ideas or products would be helpful

Pull a set of the OEM hooks at the junkyard.

thats what im guna do for the front of mine. got the hitch in the back already. but you should be good with that new bumper. get a couple hooks from the junkyard and your set. if your still worried about only 6 bolts on the front then pull a couple more and do the from at the same time.

The brackets that Ive seen attach to the bumper mounts. Does that mean that I can just attach to my new bumper and pull out that way? Im not worried about the bumper being hurt, Im worried about the bumper mounting area. It just doesnt look as strong as I would like.
Anyone up for a junkyard run sometime in the future?

yeah i just crawled out from underneath there. I reinstalled my skid plate and Im worried that it will be in the way. I have a smittybilt bumper on there now and it only attaches to the factory three bolt holes, but with bigger bolts. Think I could use that just in case? At least till i get the tow hooks on there?

those mount points will hold, my bumper is held on in those three stock holes with bigger bolts and the driver side is bolted into my steering box. when i went to evans i hooked up and was pulled and held very nice.

I just did some bumper work to go up memorial day. The stock tabs do seem flimsy, but once things are bolted down tight they seem fine. I ran out of time and I was only able to mount up two bolts on each side, butit held just fine as i was pulled 3 times with this, and I bet my hook would have snapped off before the bumper would have come off.

I did see a neat thing, though if you are worried about them, and i plan to do this myself: reinforce the tabs with a piece of angle iron. I saw an extensive write up that I need to dig back up, as I'm not sure how they got the welds good on the back of the angle, but it made sense to me. Probibly would have to get creative on bolting the bumper on with it, as I'm not sure if the clips would fit over the added thickness.

I plan on redoing the bumper over again to pick up the third bolt hole, but it may come in the form of a completely new bumper. It was just a scrap of channel I had laying around with a hook on it. My cousin has convinced me to build up a DOM cage and it doesn't seem right to go to that much work and have such a redneck bumper on there!

hey guys,

i have a quick question... i'm searching some posts about towing hooks/points.
i have a 95' cherokee, country.. 2in pro-comp lift. 31'' all terrains. i go out with my all the time but i dont have any points to get towed out of a mud hole or a rut.

I bought a Tow Hook from 4 wheel parts, but idk a safe part of my jeep to install it.
the person who owned the jeep before, tore up the area where the hitch belongs..
kinda of hard to explain, but i need some help.

Thank You!
