so i was wondering what the minimum lift you need to run 33's with just trimming to the first contour line of the fenders? would i get by with 4.5" od lift? i cant make up my mind if i want to use the bushwackers or just trim the fenders a bit.

working on installing the header and new pipe. waiting to pick up the new seals for the injecters later today and get back on it. i still have not found a rear axel yet. i think before i get all the new stuff under it i am going to undercoat it, so it will go up on jack stands in a day or two.

Not sure what you mean by 1st contour line. But I have a 3inch lift and run 31s. The only place I rubbed is the inner fender in the rear. So 1.5 inches more of lift and some bump stopping and you should clear if you trim as much as I did.

Look at my pics in my link on my signature.

so whats up folks? well over the last few days i have just been working on the jeep. i got my new header in, i dont really want to do that one again. i have to get a new down tube made to get that done. cut in and installed my hood vents. i ended up trimming the fenders to the first contour line looks pretty good. i did how ever cut in to deep in one spot. that wont be a real isssue though as my neibor has a welder and said he could fill it. i was suprized to see that there is no rust on the truck. i am trying to figure a way to re enforce the rear bumper mounts and bumper itself so i can add some sort of recovery/tow points. lots of work left, well later dudes

i ran the RE 3.5" lift with 33s for a while. i trimmed just like you did. you just need to get some extended bump stops. i made some for the rear and bought some for the front. here is a picture

i hit the u pull it damascus and got a drop hitch unit for $25 and the new bolts at ace hardware were about $9. then take an old receiver without the ball and install a D ring where the ball bolts up and there you go a nice solid recovery point and a strong hitch to boot. all for under $50 and a couple hours of my time.

Commanche rear bumpstops are longer then the XJ ones, should help out a little. I know I regret getting rid of my 33's.
