I Need Help Planning an Elbe Hills Run
lol the big green monster will be there in all her glory! ive been there when tim has had to get rescued
my brother had to stand on the side of his jeep holding his rear axle shaft in place for an entire trail and all the way to the parking lot at evans lol he is definitely a prepared wheeler though. thats why i like to wheel with him.
this will be the last time you see the green monster in its current state...

I think I did this right to post the picture. If not I will try again. I have a 96 White Cherokee lifted around 5.25" 33x13.50R15 Toyo's, Roof Rack with spare and 4 lights and winch, I am also missing my rear fender flares (More tire clearance). This might help if the picture does not show. Also I will be the one looking lost. Lol.
So I have packed everything I have. First Aid Kit, Straps, Shackles, Tools, Warm Clothes, Blankets, Lots of Food, Hi Lift, I pretty much have everything other then replacement parts.
I don't have any spare axles, drivelines, or u Joints. What do you guys think about going out with out spares? Money is kinda of tight right now. I am asking cause I don't wanna be that guy unprepared and stuck in the middle of the trail.

if your not locked then the likelyhood of you breaking an axle is slim to none. drivelines are a maybe but everyone has spares they would be more than willing to lend to you. we take care of eachother so you will be fine. this is a good group of guys to go with

I am having second thoughts about running the Busy this weekend. Not so much from a concern about damage or breaking stuff, but more because I want to hang out and wheel with everyone and wont get to do that if I am stuck on the Busy Wild all day. Plus I have only wheeled through the other trails at Elbe once before and it was not a very wet day. With the recent weather they should be pretty sloppy and fun this weekend. I like your idea better, run all the other trails with everyone else and if there is enough time left, tackle the busy last. I know Tim is going to give me a lot of crap if I don't run it with him, but I really want to meet and wheel with new people. If we don't have enough time to run it this weekend we should definitely plan a Busy Wild run in the near future.

I have a spare front and rear drive shaft including U-joints and I also have a spare right and left side axle shaft for the front D30 including knuckle U-joints and stub shafts (they are quicker to swap out on the trail that way. My long side axle even has a wheeling bearing assembly already on it so that one is even quicker to change. I figure my most vulnerable part is that passenger side long axle shaft in my D30. I will lend my spares to anybody. All I ask is they give me one in return as soon as possible.
If any of you boys are running rear D35s I would highly suggest you bring spare shafts for it if you are locked. With those
C clip axles the wheel will depart your Jeep when the axle shaft breaks. Chryco 8.25s are C clip too but they are much stronger than Turdy Fives.
Like Branden said unless you are one of the guys who is locked I wouldn't sweat bringing spares unless you have a really really heavy right foot. If you do, you deserve whatever happens to you. I'm not knocking having the heavy right foot. I suffer from that problem myself at times and sometimes a little extra tire speed is just what you need to get over that obticle. Just be mindful of getting on it while the front wheels are turned or when the entire weight of your Jeep is on one rear wheel...stuff like that.

Ryan, sounds like you got a smokin deal on your new winch cable.
As for your sway bar, go ahead and pull the whole thing off. I have a set of Rusty's quick discos on my Jeep and I hate them. So...the past 3-4 wheeling trips I just pull my sway bar off the day before I go and it's really not all that bad on the road. You just need to slow down a bit more in the corners. All of the Bonney Lake boys run all the time without their sway bars.

Just in case any of you were wondering, there is no day pass required for wheeling in the Elbe Hills ORV area. So no worries there.
One other thing I do feel I need to mention BUT should go without saying. There will be NO DRINKING WHILE DRIVING ON THE TRAILS with me. I'm no saint by any stretch of the meaning of the word and I am all about drinking a few beers around the fire while swapping 4wheeling lies on a campout after the days wheeling is done. I just can't have anybody doing it while we are on the trails and risk anybody getting hurt on a wheeling run that I sort of started. If any of you feel I am being unreasonable then you are welcome to not show up to wheel with me. Okay Nuff said about that.
WOW Branden!! That Dodge is bright come
me red. Heck yes if you have that thing parked along the highway I don't see how anybody could miss it....lol.
