Hello from Vancouver, WA
Hi all,
Just picked up an 01 XJ from a guy, traded my '03 Gixxer 1000 for it. Pretty clean setup but all stock. Hoping to change that over the next few months. Not looking for crazy off-roading but just a capable vehicle, looking forward to building this up.
Anyway..just wanted to say hi.

It is a Limited. She has 209xxx miles and purrs like a kitten. was told most of the miles were all highway, and they never off-roaded at all..what a waste. There are some things I need to work on but that is to be expected for 14yo vehicle. There is some rust on the hood, looks like they dropped something on it. The interior is pretty nice though.
Plan on changing out tranny and diff fluids this weekend. My previous 4x4 was a 1993 4Runner that I rebuild after blown HG..added 4" lift and wheeled that thing all over Central Cali. This one will be more moderate, so says the wife =) Too many hobbies to pay for lol. @Tnel74, I will definitely do that, will be nice to explore the area more.

Thanks! I need to get some new tires put on..PO has winter tires on it with studs removed. Thinking about buying some decent used tires because I want to put 3" lift anyway and will need new tires, so just need something to get me through winter. Thought on used tires? Couple of shops around here.
O..still have not changed out tranny or t-case fluid and see I will need valve cover gasket also. Just need the heatwave to end here and a quiet weekend. Will try to get more pics up

So this weekend decided to fix the clunk I had when I accelerate/decelerate. Removed the drive shaft and greased it good. Now no more clunking.
Also ran new wire kit from LMC for the headlights..dang those suckers are a ton brighter now.
Need to replace O-ring on the oil filter adapter but could not find the a store with the right Torx bit that would let me use a box end wrench so had to order that, should be here this week. Got the O-ring kit from the stealership...only place local that had the 3 pc set of O-rings.
Slowly getting stuff done. Talked to a buddy who raced an XJ in the Baja 1000..he made his own suspension stuff for that race so he is thinking for $500 he can do a killer 3-4" suspension upgrade for me. Gonna talk more this winter about it, gives me time to get the basics done on her first.

Yea..so that sucked. The T60 I bought online was a little too long, would not sit in there right with the box end on it. Took me about 30 mins to get a good tight seating...then I crank on it, hard. the Torx popped out and when I look at the bolt head I saw shiny metal so freak out that I might strip it and took it to the shop. They used my O-rings and only charge me labor and some oil. Came out to $70. Well worth it since I didn't strip the thing. While on the lift mechanic noticed leaking coolant. We checked it out and was coming from the water pump. Picked one up on the way home and spent 3 hours replacing that...thanks goodness for Youtube videos.
So one oil leak down, the worst one, and coolant leak and potential serious issue fixed.
