grab a haynes manual or a FSM. you will need lots of extensions and a set of star sockets.
but it is doable with a few extra hands and 2 jacks atleast. moving the tranby can be a pain.

so couple of questions on this. first so the clutch resivor is full apperently not leakin or loosein fluid, have had issues with it goin into reverse since i have had it, has popped out of gear a couple times, thing that make me think the clutch is done is cuz i was at a light with it in gear, then all of a sudden it started wanting to go with peddle pushed in. i couldnt get it out of gear so i shut it off, took all i had to get it out of gear. started it up jammed on the fuel slammed her in to 2nd and speed shifted back to the house. idk could just need bleedin and adjustment or could it be the throwout bearring? if in fact it is that the clutch is done should i get a stock replacement or go with one of the aftermarket ones like a centerforce 1 ?
on a side note anyone done the 180 on rear springs to lengthen the wheel base trick?

Sounds like the slave cylinder, I have the same problem with the clutch down and it engaging. Only in 4LO has it happened to me though, Was the clutch slipping before?

When my slav cylinder was going out, i could pump the clutch a couple times to build up pressure and then shift easily. This worked on my 88, Until one day it no longer would build any pressure, The rebuild kit from Napa was fairly cheap and the task easy enough for a first time rebuild, don't remember needing any special tools.
so i have not yet jumped in to tearing out the trans. so from what i have read online and in the manuals, based on what has been happining the plate it self must be worn out or damaged in some way. most say to replace entire clutch itself cuz the parts are cheap enough, that said i have not yet done any pricing of parts. it will have to wait untill i get back from A.T. in the first part of aug. centerforce or not that is the question? anymore input would be great thanks all

Buying a replacement clutch kit with slave cyl. from an auto parts store is the cheapest ,but your still looking at 250.00 on up .. atrany jack comes in handy the tranny and transfer case units together are alot to handle alone.
