Exclamation anyone in the covington area know about t-cases?? need help!!

anyone in the covington area willing to come over and give me a hand figureing out my tc problem.. Im not very good with drive trains and could use someone that know a little more than i do. Haha

Here is the problem...
-will go into 4h but makes a binding/grinding noise.
-will not go into 4L and sounds like its just not going in all the way and wont allow me to move.

I have tried to mess with the linkage and drained and checked for metal and found no signs of any and filled it back up with new fliud.

Im stumped!! And it all worked fine before i did my clutch..

Sorry I'm not in your area, but I thought I'd give you my thoughts on this anyway.

At 100k the chain in the transfer case is recommended to be replaced. If you've used 4x4 part time (NP242's have full and part, NP231 part time only) on dry non slippery surfaces you could have stretched the chain. I think the stretching happens over time anyway. I'm torn between you having a stretched chain or just mus-adjusted transfer case linkage. Even when my chain was in need of replacement I was still able to get it into 4Lo.

A chain slipping over the drive and driven gears is pretty loud and you can feel it coming through the floor. A grinding of gears sound is different.

It doesn't sound like the chain. Its in the shifter part. And im running a np207 with 4.10 gears.

Okay I see it in the drop down now. When I adjusted my linkage (NP242) I loosened the rod made sure the lever was all the way in the 2wd position. I then made sure the lever was in the 2wd position, and tightened it back up to the rod.

Just to double check, I have to put my transmission in neutral before shifting into 4lo. I guess with a standard all you really need is to have the clutch in. If I try putting my NP242 in 4lo with the transmission in drive, it grinds.
